Topic Description

The latest generation of Open Payment systems take advantage of Visa, MasterCard and Interac standards that are specifically targeted to transit operations. These include support for offline contactless credit a debit card acceptance (e.g. on buses), provisions for transaction aggregation to lower costs, and flexibility to support more complex fare policies such as fare capping. As a result, recent Open Payment implementations have shown that customers quickly adopt the convenience of using contactless credit and debit card payments when that payment option is offered.
