In a press release on March 1, 2021, Minister Mulroney announced that the Safe Restart Agreement will be extended to December 31, 2021 and that, on a case by case basis, funding could be extended to December 31, 2022. The province is also advancing its share of an expanded Safe Restart Agreement, making the Phase 3 portion of SRA a total of $650 Million, up from the $500 Million previously announced. SRA now represents a $2.15 Billion package for public transit.  Work continues with the federal government to encourage them to match the province’s additional contribution of $150 Million. Eligibility for the funding has also been expanded to include transformational transit projects and governance on a cost-shared basis.

The allocation of the new funding will be based on the same formula as outlined in the December 15, 2020 letters to municipalities.

Conference call-in details will be emailed once you register.
